Thank you for visiting True West Custom Fly Rods! True West was founded in 2009 by  passionate fly fisherman and rod builder Tony Overstake. Tony started building rods while in college at  Oregon where he had the opportunity to test his custom rods, flies, and equipment on local waters like the McKenzie River and any others he could explore. Over the last 20+ years he has honed his craft to produce some of the finest crafted and most unique fly rods you will ever fish. A True West Rod not only looks beautiful but has 25 years of rod building design and technique in every build.

More recently Tony has taken this same approach in learning to work with leather, and designing other fly fishing gear. By partnering with the local Eugene Leather Works True West is producing some of the innovative designs and highest quality products on the market.

Tony still lives in the Eugene area with his wife, Roslyn, and two sons Tristan and Kaelan. He still loves to fish his local waters, but now has to the opportunity to travel all over the world chasing fish and testing fly fishing equipment.
