The Fly Rod Blank of Choice has been the ONE for many..

schwartz one label

What we love about making custom rods is that you, the avid fly fisherman can choose to have your favorite rod blank from manufactures like Wintson, Orvis, North Fork Composite, Beulah and Sage, but unique and custom to you. Because you the customer gets to choose your blank and we don't pre-build any rods, we very rarely are building multiples of the same blank at any given time. We love the variety that we get from building on all of the best blanks that the industry has to offer, but every now and then a certain blank becomes a trend.

We love fly fishing High Lakes.

There is something about the early morning drive to a trailhead of a couple mile hike in the a beautiful, sparingly fished lake that makes this type of fishing our favorite. Not to mention there is very rarely a poor day of fishing and can includes monsters for fish. Whether it be fishing for browns, cutties or rainbows up in the cascades or on a week long backpacking trip (Beartooths | Glacier), nothing beats the wonders of the High Lakes.

Worn Out Flies

Tony Overstake Beartooth

Three days and several large, non-freeze dried, meals after my wife and I's annual week long backpacking trip, Tuesday I stepped on the scale for the first time since getting off the trail. I was still 11lbs lighter than the week before, and the leanest I have been since my decade removed from being a college wrestler. That's what Montana's rugged and beautiful Beartooth Mountain Range will do to you. With most of our trip above elevations of 9500', and nearly half of the 50 mi we covered being off trail, needless to say it was not what you would call a resful vacation.

It has been a busy summer with hot weather, weddings, fishing, prototyping and of course building rods.  We wanted to give an update on a couple fly rods currently in the workshop.  Kyle Mills has a beautiful 9ft 4wt Orvis Helios with an awesome Elk Antler reel seat coming his way. Stuart Woods chose to build his custom fly rod on a North Fork Composite 9ft wt.  We are pumped how these rods are turning out and are excited to get them in the hands of these fisherman!
